This week the protagonist of the challenge is the blue hour. Whether you live in the country or in the city, look at the sky and shoot!
How does it work? (Reminder)
Every week I will propose a new challenge, it is a topic that you will have to capture in a photograph and upload it to the Facebook page of the blog, putting in the description the keyword that I will indicate for each topic. The themes will be varied, from portraits to Macro photography, through landscapes, black and white photography, or babies. The topics will be proposed on Saturdays, so that you have all the Weekend to work them. You will have one week to upload your photograph (one photo per participant), until Friday of the following week. On Friday or Saturday I will update the article with the photo that has captivated me the most and I will propose a new topic, and so on…
Weekly Challenge 97: Blue Hour
Although the golden hour is almost always referred to as the magic hour for photography, it is fair to say that the blue hour is also part of that magical moment that occurs just before sunset or at the beginning of sunrise. You can get up early or not, you have two opportunities a day to capture that magic, that moment when it seems that everything is already lost because the sun has gone down, the light show begins in the cities and the landscapes stand out with the blue background shrieking, before plunging into absolute darkness. Or when the darkness begins to give way to a new day, full of hope and time to do what we love most: take photos! In this article you have some excellent tips to photograph this moment, you can’t miss it!
The challenge is that you manage to convey the magic of the blue hour and the beauty that enhances this moment anywhere. Don’t forget to get a good composition and play with the perspectives so that your image is more attractive and appears among the highlights!
As usual, to participate in this week’s challenge upload your photo to the Facebook wall from the Photographer’s Blog: In the description of the photo please mention the keyword “Blue Hour Challenge” followed by a title of your choice.
Alternative Means to Participate
For those who do not be from Facebook I have enabled new social networks to participate.
- Flickr: accessing the Group Mural of the Photographer’s Blog and uploading the photo directly. Give your photo a caption and be sure to mention “Blue Hour Challenge” in the same.
- Twitter: uploading the photo directly to Twitter with the hashtag #BlueHoraBdF Challenge
Happy photography.

I have loved Mauricio Vega’s photography, which takes us to the “Parque Bicentenario”, a place from which he shows us the moment known as “Blue Hour” and that he has captured perfectly. That moment in which the sky ranges from the warmest tones to the coldest and darkest that give way to night, from the colors of the sun to total darkness. The moment when the city lights up and the scene is flooded with small artificial fireflies before giving way to the lights of the sky, the stars. I like both the quality of the image and the aesthetics. The water gives depth to the image and also serves to achieve a subtle symmetry of shapes and lights swept by its movement. And at the same time it gives it a load of tranquility that you breathe as soon as you see the photo, that tranquility that comes at the end of the day, when the hustle and bustle of the day comes to an end and peace reigns, the silence of the night and we embrace the quality of our homes. Congratulations Mauricio for capturing this magical moment!
