Canon is, without a doubt, one of the brands that have had the most impact on the way we conceive photography today. It is not for nothing that many professional photographers, from different disciplines (sports, journalism, fashion) and of recognized prestige, choose to make a living with a Canon SLR or other type of camera.
Every day I get questions from readers asking for a recommendation to choose a SLR camera. If this is your case, in today’s article I am going to present what I consider to be the 4 best Canon SLR cameras for amateur photographers, both beginners and more advanced.
Selection criteria for this list of Canon cameras
When choosing an SLR camera, we usually want to get the most advanced model possible, however, many amateur users become obsessed with the issue of performance and end up getting into “tractors” of 2,000 EUR that, In addition to leaving the user “dry”, they take away agility.
An SLR camera intended for professional use is an ultra-heavy camera that is supposed to be mounted on a tripod in a studio, etc. Not to mention the difficulty of learning photography with a supposedly “professional” and complex SLR camera.
That is why I have always insisted to my readers and students on the need to choose a “suitable” SLR camera for the type of photographer we are. The list that I have prepared for you in this guide is aimed primarily at amateur photographers.
For the preparation of this guide I have based myself on my own experience, on the camera models that Canon sends us many times for testing, and I have applied a rigorous filter to include here only cameras that are cheap, that include a good level of benefits, but above all that they have a good level of user satisfaction.
You will see that the 4 proposals that I include in this guide have a user rating above 4 stars.

Best Canon SLR Cameras for Hobbyist Photographers
I have limited myself to 4 Canon cameras that for me are the best proposals of the brand for the amateur photographer, and that cover all needs and satisfy all pockets. Let’s go there.
Option 1: Canon EOS 4000D
The Canon camera recommended par excellence for anyone looking to take their first steps (and second and third 😉 ) in the world of SLR photography without spending a lot of money.
The Canon EOS4000D It offers more than enough 18 megapixels of resolution, 9 focus points for more than decent autofocus, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, among other features.

The Canon EOS 4000D camera allows you to enter photography through the front door, hand in hand with a great brand like Canon, to be able to access the wide ecosystem of the brand’s objectives, and above all to be able to do all this for a very affordable price. It is one of the very few current SLRs whose price is around 300 EUR.

Option 2: Canon EOS 2000D
If you are looking for a little more power, you may want to consider the Canon EOS 2000D camera, a SLR with no less than 24 megapixels of resolution, Full HD video recording, Wi-Fi and NFC connectivity.
Its price, with lens included, is around 600 EUR. A correct price, although if you do not need so many megapixels (most amateur photographers do not need more than 16 MP) you may be interested in opting for the one I mentioned above, the Canon 4000D).

Option 3: Canon EOS 250D
A Canon camera specially conceived for the photographer who is starting to take his first steps in photography but who wants to stay for a long time. The Canon EOS 250D is one of my most frequent recommendations when someone on the blog asks me about a good SLR camera.
In its favor it has an ultra-small size and weight, something positive for mobility and day-to-day use, as well as features typical of a superior category SLR camera: 24 megapixel resolution, folding screen, ideal for taking selfies or self-portraits with your family or partner, fast shooting of up to 5 fps (up to 5 photos per second), very useful if you are going to photograph children/pets/sports, ISO of up to 25,600 that are expandable up to 51,200, offering thus an incredible quality in conditions of lack of light, and a long list of extras that I am going to save so as not to lengthen this guide.
In addition to all this, the Canon EOS 250D is one of the few SLRs in this (hobbyist) segment that offer 4K video recording. These and other features make it a great photography machine, albeit in a small and manageable body.

Option 4: Canon EOS 77D
They are calling her “the world’s fastest focusing SLR camera”. For those looking for an SLR camera with very specific advanced features, the Canon 77D impresses with its 24 megapixel resolution, its 46 autofocus points that give it ultra-fast autofocus, its high-quality Full HD recording and the rest of the extra functionalities that it includes (Wi-Fi and NFC connectivity, etc.).
