Four decades and only during them six successful manned expeditions were carried out to the natural satellite of the Land. Although these expeditions generated a great step forward for human knowledge, it was also part of a series of political interests that involved the two most powerful powers: USA Y Russiaunder the shadow of the Cold War.

Today the lunar expeditions are overshadowed by the intentions of Russia to explore Phobos, a moon of Mars that generates great hopes for scientists, who speculate that they could find signs of ice or water on it.

Looking back, we find a tragically failed operation of the shuttle Columbia, in the year 2003. After that incident, the then president of the USA, George W Bush proclaimed new measures in the space science sector. Among these new decisions, new technologies were planned capable of carrying out new expeditions, scheduled for 2021 destined for the Moonand take a step forward through the arid lands of Mars some time later.

With the arrival of the new president, Barack Obamathe rules of the game changed, making some leadership changes within the POTincluding space expeditions within the economic cut that is part of the economic emergency plan for which the country and the rest of the world are living.

A new horizon full of new obstacles that are stronger than pride and anxiety to know the outside world, but that in any case will probably be news again in the world, surprising us again, like that July 20, 1969.
