An atrocious measure endorses the hunting of dolphins in the Faroe Islands

It is worth mentioning that, during 2021, activist groups and organizations that defend animal rights raised their voices demanding justice for the capture of more than 1,400 dolphins in the month of September.

The government of the archipelago belonging to Denmark said that it will allow the hunting of up to 500 specimens

As announced by authorities in the statement: “The Ministry of Fisheries proposed a provisional annual limit of 500 Atlantic dolphins for the years 2022 and 2023″. And in relation to the aforementioned, they said that: “Aspects of that capture were not satisfactory, in particular the unusually large number of dolphins killed.”

They also stated that: “These elaborate procedures are difficult to administer and are unlikely to be a sustainable level of annual catch in the long term.”

Members of the government announced that they are evaluating the procedures used to drive and kill the dolphins so that “It is carried out in the fastest and most efficient way possible.”

Meanwhile, whales and other cetaceans continue to be ruthlessly slaughtered!

Animal associations warn about the consequences of poaching

Specifically, more than 1.3 million signatures were gathered to prohibit this type of activity that threatens the lives of sentient beings. At the same time, they launched an investigation to analyze and reveal the impact of this practice on ecosystems.

On the other hand, they made reference to the ancestral tradition that characterizes the Islands faroeknown as “grindadrap”it is a practice that surrounds and corrals with boats a school of small cetaceans in a bay. Once they are deprived of their freedom, on the shore the fishermen stab them to death.

And at this point, through an introspective look, it is worth reflecting on the following: Does the fact that there is a limit on hunting mean that this practice will end? Is this type of activity morally correct? Could reducing the number of dead dolphins conform and silence the voices that denounce this atrocity?

More empathy, love and respect for other beings is needed! How long will humanity believe itself to be the owner of the lives of animals?

Just thinking about it generates outrage. However, carcass-based feeding continues to be a priority when choosing a menu or dish. It is possible to generate a transition towards new paradigms that do not violate the freedom and desire to live of other living beings!

However, hunting and fishing are financed by large corporations and powerful people convinced that animals are the main source of inputs. On the one hand, it is promoted by the industries that chase money and on the other, through advertising that encourages the population to consume them.

These practices make it clear that life is worth nothing when there are economic interests involved!
