We continue talking in Sobrehistoria about what school history projects are according to the courses, and although we have already focused our attention on topics such as Roman Spain or Visigothic Spain, now is the time to see how we can do the work on another period highlighted in our history as was Al-Andalus.
Points that we will deal with for the work of Al-Andalus:
- What was Al-Andalus
- Work of Al-Andalus
- Other ideas for your work on Al-Andalus
- Al-Andalus PDF
- Video of Al-Andalus
What was Al-Andalus:
- After the Roman colonization and after the presence of the Visigoths, Spain was dominated by the Muslims, in a period known as Al-Andalus, between the years 711 and 1492.
- Being such an extensive period, your work on Al-Andalus (“Land of the Vandals”) should have an extensive summary in which to explain how the extension occupied by the Muslims varied as the borders were modified due to the continuous conquests of the territory carried out, either by Hispanic-Muslims or by Castilian-Aragonese. These are the crucial stages of its eight centuries of existence.
- In this way, to do your work and complete your summary it is recommended differentiate between these periods:
- The dependent emirate of Damascus (711-756).
- The independent emirate (756-929).
- The Caliphate of Cordoba (929-1031).
- The Taifa kingdoms (1031-1090).
- The Almoravid rule (1090-1145) and the second Taifas (1145-1175).
- The Almohads (1175-1232).
- Nasrid Kingdom of Granada (1236-1492).
Work of Al-Andalus:
- It is better that for your work on Al-Andalus you make a complete scheme in which to develop concepts, such as economythe societythe culture and the monuments that the Arabs left us.
- On the other hand, we will have to mention concepts that in fact mark a large part of our culture and among them, we can talk about the introduction of dishes and meals that, as I say, have marked our gastronomy.
Other ideas for your work on Al-Andalus:
- Aside from the diagrams and summaries, on index cards or cards or positive days, that you can do for your work on Al-Andalus, it is also a good idea to make, for example, a model about the urban centers and that they were represented by the medina, with a tight and dense layout.
