A woman in Sweden said she found her wedding ring in a carrot she had planted in her garden, nearly 16 years after it was lost. Lena Paahlsson had long since given up hope of finding her wedding ring that she had designed herself. As reported by the Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter, the white gold band, set with seven small diamonds, disappeared in Lena’s kitchen in 1995. Lena told the newspaper that she had removed the ring to cook with her daughters during the day. Christmas and that when she wanted to put it back on, the ring had disappeared from where she had left it. The family searched everywhere without success. Even years later, during renovations to her kitchen, they pried up the tiles in hopes of retrieving the lost ring. But she wasn’t there. It wasn’t until 16 years later when Mrs. Paahlsson was harvesting the carrots in her garden that she noticed one of them had a ring fastened tightly around it. “The carrot was sprouting through the ring. It was quite incredible,” her husband Ola told the DN newspaper. The couple believes that the ring fell into the drain, back in 1995 and was lost among the vegetable peels, which They were in turn turned into compost and fed to her sheep. “I had given up hope,” Ms Paahlsson said, adding that while the ring no longer fits as well as before, she hopes to wear it with some modifications.
