7 tricks to purify the air in your home

Hundreds of polluting substances fly over the atmosphere of the place where we live. Microscopic contaminants are everywhere, and you don’t have to be outside for them to harm us or put us at risk of disease.

According to research by the US Environmental Protection Agency, indoor pollution is often two to five times greater than outdoor pollution. This has nothing to do with the dirt that may be in closed spaces. In fact, the particles with toxic agents that damage the air in your home come from everyday elements, such as detergents, cleaning products, pesticides, air fresheners or construction materials, among others.

Get rid of this and start breathing better with these tricks and objects that will help you purify the air in your home.

1. Improve ventilation

Poor ventilation allows contaminants to remain in the air. R. Surech, from the Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) in India, says that’s why fresh air needs to be allowed into the house.

Opening windows and doors at least two or three times a day, unless you have allergies or extreme temperatures, is ideal. When cooking or bathing, it’s a good idea to turn on an exhaust fan, if you have one, to help remove contaminants and reduce humidity.

2. Salt lamp

A salt lamp is another great natural air purifier you can have in your home. Salt crystal products tend to reduce airborne irritants. In addition, Himalayan pink salt is a natural ionic air purifier that draws out toxins from the environment and neutralizes them.

3. Fill your house with indoor plants

Can’t afford those expensive air filters? Fill your space with indoor plants. Some can help remove toxics from the air and are considered a promising and inexpensive solution to indoor pollution. Additionally, they protect us from any side effects associated with prevalent toxins, such as ammonia, formaldehyde, and also benzene.

Popular houseplants include areca palm, pothos, aspidistra, bamboo, ferns, and palm trees.

4. Beeswax candles

In addition to improving the air quality in your home, beeswax candles burn slowly, so you don’t need to replace them often.

5. Activated carbon

You can also use activated carbon to purify the air in your home. Best of all, it’s odorless, highly absorbent, and works wonders at removing toxins from the air.

6. Essential Oils

Essential oils like oregano, rosemary, thyme, grapefruit, lemon, cinnamon, and tea tree make viruses, fungi, bacteria, and even mold unable to survive inside your home. Another way to keep them in mind would be to add them to soaps and detergents to breathe fresher, cleaner air.

7. Natural fibers

Believe it or not, there are a large number of construction materials whose paint or glues contain organic and chemical compounds that emit vapors that pollute the environment. To avoid this, in this case, the most common recommendation is the use of natural materials in the home.

Whenever you can, choose natural fibers in textiles, such as wool or cotton; opt for bamboo, glass or cork for the furniture; and use ecological paints on the walls.
