7 tips to learn to wait

We live in a fast-paced time, where virtually all humans crave immediate answers and results. However, there are situations and processes that require your time. Even the paths of personal development imply a deep wait for a rebirth from the inside out.

For example, if you work for yourself, you are subject to the times of others: your clients, the market, trends, the production of goods or inputs, hiring. But if you work in a company, there are also times that tend to slow down because multiple factors intervene when the processes are launched. It is also difficult to wait in the job search process.

In the case of interpersonal relationships, being “out of time” is often exasperating: when one wants to move in one direction, perhaps the other people are not at the same pace and, therefore, cannot make a commitment or give an immediate response. .

Sometimes the wait can be tinged with anguish, such as when you are waiting for medical results and facing uncertain situations.

How to respond to the anxiety of waiting

The word “wait” comes from the Latin sperare, which means to hope.

Beyond the pressing need that you may sometimes have, it is necessary to understand that the process of life and the development of things, behaviors and decisions of one’s own and of another, is complex.

Like all things that require a period of maturity, learning to wait becomes one of the main resources if you want to achieve greater peace and balance in your life.

The mastery of this mastery in the good “know how to wait” is what will lead you to a fuller life and free of unnecessary ties.

As an antidote to the anxiety and stress caused by waiting, here are some suggestions to deal with waiting times in any aspect of your life.

  • 1. Understand the natural process of life

A good point of reference is nature, with its cycles. Take a moment to think about them and understand them. Doing so will help you exercise waiting.

  • 2. Understand that each person has their natural biorhythm

The biorhythm is a cycle of physiological phenomena that is repeated periodically and that varies in each person. It directly influences the mood, emotions and feelings, forming part of people’s behaviors.

  • 3. There are people who use waiting as manipulation

In many countries the phrase “leave a person in the freezer” is used to make them wait on purpose. This is intended to work as a form of deterrence, to serve to distort their opinion or mark the ground of whoever believes they have power in that situation.

The same happens with many organizations, where sometimes they manipulate by putting justifications for delays, the lack of a payment that they must make or, simply, they do not respond to you after having consulted you.

  • 4. Accept that there is a time not to move any tile on the board of life

This is especially true for those times when you are eager to speed up results. Even if it is difficult, that is the best time to stay patiently waiting.

  • 5. Focus on the present

Anxiety is produced by living with the mind in the future. When you learn to control your thoughts and always bring them to the present, you will live calmer and with a better disposition to face daily challenges. At the same time, you will avoid exacerbating the ghosts that are produced in the imaginary projections of what could happen.

  • 6. Stay busy and reactive

This is a good way to turn waiting time into something productive. Keep moving: take the opportunity to plan, organize, hold meetings, take an online course, improve your productivity and any other aspect.

  • 7. Sustains hope and faith

Without the need for dogmas, these two resources give meaning to existence and its moments. Hope is an open door to the multiple possibilities that life offers, and faith gives us a perspective of certainty that there will be an answer, perhaps not the one you expect as you dream it; although experiences appropriate to their time always come to all.
