The circumstantial of place provides information about the space in which the main verb takes place and answers the question Where? Where? Where? or to where? For example: I’ll wait for you in the corner.
The circumstantial is a syntactic function present in the predicate that provides information about the circumstances in which the action takes place.
Syntactically, they are dispensable figures, that is, their presence or absence does not alter the functioning of the sentence, but they are important to provide greater clarity. Due to their “expendable” characteristic, they can also be moved around.
For example: they ate all next to the chimney. / Next to the chimney they ate. / They ate.
According to the information they provide, there are several types of circumstantial: manner, company, place, affirmation, denial, time, instrument, cause, purpose, concession, quantity. In turn, those that begin in a preposition are called circumstantial complements.
