Active voice
The active voice It is a type of grammatical voice in which the subject of the sentence, called in this case the agent subject, executes the action of the verb. It can also include the object on which the action is performed. For example: Catherine sings a song.
The active voice is characterized by a specific order of those elements of the sentence that is usually: subject + action + object. For example: Marta bought a sofa.
The subject in Spanish can be tacit, that is, not be express. For example: He told a lie. (tacit subject: he/she)
It can be used in any tense, and also with modal verbs, that is, those that indicate the capacity or possibility of carrying out an action.
It is the most frequent voice in the sentences of a language and is opposed to the passive voice, which is one in which the subject does not carry out the action of the verb, that is, it is a patient subject. In Spanish, the passive voice generally takes the verb to be + participle. For example: The National Anthem is sung by Catalina. / A lie was told (by him/her).
One or another voice will be used according to the order and the priority that you want to give to the subject over the object.
