It is no secret that telephony is strongly committed to the subject of mobile photographs. Each new terminal that hits the market tries to outperform its competitors with its increasingly powerful cameras.
More and more megapixels, better quality of optics, definition and colors. So much so that we begin to be unable on many occasions to know if the photograph has been taken with a mobile phone or a camera.
I will confess that more and more I have turned it into one more tool of my photographic process. At the moment it does not “eliminate” my SLR, but it does accompany it and offers me the possibility of capturing moments that would otherwise escape me.
mobile phone is agile, light, manoeuvrable, allows you to simply focus on the framing and allows you to see what others (and often yourself) miss.
In short, the camera of a well-used mobile phone together with the best photography applications will give you images that many times you would not get in any other way.
I have promised you a sample of photographs taken with different mobile phone models, and you will have it, 😉 but first a brief summary of what I think is most important when working with your mobile phone.
- Don’t underestimate the potential of your mobile phone’s camera.
- But do not overestimate it either, learn to know the limits of the camera: its dynamic range, its noise levels, etc.
- Take advantage of your portability and always have it at hand.
- Search different points of view, With a mobile phone it is very easy to risk frames and try new things.
- Train your gaze look for what others do not see, flee from stereotyped images.
- Look for lines, contrasts, shadows, pay attention to everything around you.
- There are authentic artists of mobile photography, look for inspiration in networks.
- Color is a very powerful compositional element, but so is black and white.
- Composition in mobile photography is the essence. Its immediacy and speed allows you to dispense with the settings of a reflex or mirrorless camera, to focus much more on the compositions.
- Pay attention to the colors, the play of light, reflections, lines, etc.
- the human element always adds interest to photography.
