Life is made up of cycles to which we dedicate our energies. They can be related to work, relationships, family, a journey of personal discovery, and much more.
Giving the appropriate closure to these stages is essential to be at peace with ourselves and renew energies. That is why there are techniques through which we learn to overcome them and close them accordingly, with the intention of healing and moving on to a new cycle.
Here are three rituals with which you can close the stages of your life and move forward in harmony and calm.

Ritual to clear grudges
According to a popular saying, holding a grudge is like taking poison and expecting the other person to suffer the effects. It can be a very natural thing when we feel that someone has wronged us, but harboring so much negativity in our hearts does not help anyone and makes us unhappy.
For this ritual you will need:
- Something that represents the person you want to get away from you
- A blank sheet of paper and a pen or pencil
- your favorite flowers
- Seeds
- your favorite candles
Choose a sacred space of your choice and ask that place on earth for permission to receive light. Write on the blank sheet what you are burying, what you are giving an end to: download your pain. Do not leave anything out, express all your feelings.
once you finish, roll up the sheet and hand it over to the candle fire. As it burns, take the object (some use quartz) that represents that person or thing you want to finish and meditate on what you learned.
Bury the object along with the ashes of the paper and feel grateful for the healing process you just went through. The cycle is over and you have a whole life ahead of you. Live it without hate!

Ritual to end a relationship
Even when the relationship ends, feelings remain that prevent you from finding the peace you truly need. For this you can perform this ritual, and what you need is the following:
- One black and one white candle
- Two extra candles (you and your ex)
- A photo of them together
- Ash tray
- Pen or pencil to write on the back of the image
- Rosemary, thyme, marigold petals, sandalwood for personalized incense (optional)
Place the black candle (to banish negativity) to the east, the astro candle (the one that represents you) to the south, the white candle (to attract positivity) to the west, the astro candle (that of the ex) to the north. Write what you want to get with this ritual on the back of the image: peace between the two, letting go of feelings, etc.
If you wish, you can burn incense. Place the photo face up in the center of the candles, so that each one lights a corner of the photo. Meditate on the words you wrote and allow all the negative energy to go away with the burning of the image. Let the candles burn down completely.
Discard the ashes of the burnt image on the ground and reflect on the final closure of your relationship. Don’t let negative thoughts about the relationship flood your mind again. Keep going!

Paper ritual to close cycles with a person in your life
Sometimes we need to leave behind a stage of our life related to someone else, whoever they are. Through this process you can make a symbolic funeral for everything that happened and let it go. You need:
- Cardboard
- Photos, clippings and memories with that person
- Glue
- Material for a collage
- Candles (or fire)
Create a collage with photos and everything that reminds you of that person. Includes phrases of the bad and the good that happened together. Once it’s ready, burn it with candles, a campfire or fireplace.
If you wish, you can dress discreetly and burn incense or anything else that makes you feel connected to the ritual. As the collage burns, ponder the purifying power of fire.
Throw away the ashes and meditate on what your relationship with that person brought to your life, what you learned together, the good times and the bad times. Forgive that person and yourself for whatever happened that separated you.
Rituals to close cycles should have a peaceful effect on your life and if you are willing to perform them, you may find them very effective.
