I am one of those who thinks that any time of the year offers infinite photographic opportunities to unleash our photographic passion, but I also believe that there are few seasons as exuberant with life as spring.
Whether you enjoy landscapes, portraits, macro or animal photography, spring is a spectacular canvas, full of color, life, rain and many impressive settings that you can make the protagonists of your scenes.
And since there is nothing better than starting with a good dose of inspiration loaded from home, I leave you with no less than 21 spring images designed to help you give wings to your creativity. Open your eyes wide and enjoy 😉
1. Explosion of color in your spring photos
Fruit trees and flower fields are a spectacle of nature that you cannot miss 🙂 To have the whole scene in focus, remember to close the diaphragm or encourage yourself to photograph based on the hyperfocal distance.
2. Spring photos with color contrast
Experimenting with color in your photographs is a must in spring. In this case, complementary colors such as yellow and blue have been used.
3. Nature and the human element
Not only from nature photographs does the spring photographer live 😉 . Adding a human element can help enhance the image and gives you different photos, allowing you to play with more elements and be more creative.
4. Close-up spring photos
Do not be afraid to approach the protagonists of the image. Play to fill the frame, or with the very close-ups.
5. Birds with spring backgrounds
Spring, in addition to an explosion of flowers, is also an explosion of animal life and bird photography enthusiasts will find a good gold mine at this time of year. Remember that the best lenses for photographing birds are those with a long focal length (telephoto lenses) and an image stabilizer.
6. The dew
The first hours of the day are ideal for photographing insects, since they are not very active, there is usually little wind and, with a bit of luck, the night will have been somewhat humid and will give you a beautiful background full of dew. What more could you want? 😉
7. Fields of flowers
The infinite fields of flowers, with their intense color tones, are another main image of any self-respecting spring 🙂 .
8. Spring photos with magical sunsets
A good image of a spring sunset cannot be missing from your repertoire. Remember to set the white balance well so that it does not correct the beautiful warm tones of the last hours of the day or simply shoot in RAW.
9. Flowers in high key
Combining the different photographic techniques that we already know, such as the high key technique with new scenarios, is always a good idea.
10. Portraits
Take advantage of the beauty of the spring landscape to make a good portrait session. Play with shadows, color, composition or depth of field and, above all, use the magic of spring to generate an atmosphere and help you tell a story.
11. The magic of blur
Playing with the depth of field through the diaphragm opening will leave you with images as beautiful as this one.
12. Play with the composition
The rules are there to know them and break them from time to time, otherwise we would always make the same images 😉 Try placing the center of interest in a strong point of the rule of thirds or simply dare to focus from time to time, to cut off heads, or whatever your creative soul asks of you.
13. Butterflies
Other undisputed protagonists of the spring season are the butterflies. In full flight, in close-ups, in macro or surrounded by flowers, they always give us beautiful images.
14. Low Key Spring Photos
If before we talked about the high key as a technique to also apply to your spring photographs, we could not miss its opposite; the low key. This elegant and mysterious technique will allow you to obtain different and spectacular images like the following one.
15. Waterfalls and rivers
Undoubtedly, the melting and the flow of the rivers are another of the faces of this time of year. You can freeze the movement or practice with the silky effect of water.
16. Animals
Newcomers to the world in spring also deserve a corner on your memory card, don’t you think? 🙂 . Foals, calves, birds… can be good protagonists of this type of snapshot.
17. Different points of view
Do not forget to vary the point of view to get different images.
18. Dark Backgrounds
A dark or black background enhances like few others any element that you put in front of it.
19. Poppy Fields
To photograph fields of flowers like these, stop down and find a low point of view. Backlights, flares (or stray light), can be interesting to give a creative point to your photos of flower fields.
20. Minimalism
Less is more or minimalism in photography can help you a lot to focus the interest of your photography and achieve interesting compositions.
21. After the rain
The rain is usually a constant in this season of the year, take advantage of it to photograph nature in a different way. Drops of water on plants, windows, reflections in puddles, etc.
