13 everyday products you can make yourself

Preparing your own products for daily use will help you reduce expenses. However, its main advantage is that you can control the ingredients you use. Thus, you will make sure to keep industrial chemicals away from your life.

Most of the items used in these recipes are very common and can be easily obtained. In addition, you will notice that the procedures do not have any complexity.

1. Mouthwash


– 1/2 cup of filtered or distilled water
– 2 teaspoons of baking soda
– 2 drops of tea tree essential oil
– 2 drops of peppermint essential oil


Mix all the ingredients well in a jar or bottle. Before each use, shake the preparation well, since the bicarbonate will accumulate at the bottom. You will only need to use two or three tablespoons at a time. Be careful not to swallow it.

2. Deodorant


– 5/6 tablespoons of coconut oil
– 1/8 cup of turmeric powder
– 1/8 cup of cornstarch
– 1/4 cup of baking soda
– A few drops of bergamot oil (optional)


1. Mix all the dry ingredients in a bowl.

2. Gradually add the coconut oil until the powders are almost completely dissolved and the preparation has the texture of an ointment.

3. Add a few drops of oil to scent your deodorant.

To use the deodorant, take an amount equivalent to the size of a bean and rub it between your fingers to melt the paste and then apply it to your armpits.

3. Makeup remover wipes


– 4 cups of warm water
– 1 or 2 tablespoons of coconut oil
– A few drops of tea tree oil
– A roll of kitchen paper


1. With a very sharp knife, cut the roll of kitchen paper in half. You should cut through the cardboard tube, without removing the leaves.

2. Place one of the halves in a container that is about the same size as the cut roll.

3. Mix all the ingredients and pour the resulting liquid into the container. When the cardboard gets wet, you can take it out.

4. Soap


– 2 and a half liters of used and strained oils
– 2 and a half liters of water
– Half a kilo of caustic soda if it is to be used for general cleaning or 330 grams if it is to be used for cosmetic use

5. Shaving cream


– 1/3 cup of shea butter
– 1/3 cup of coconut oil
– 1/4 cup almond or jojoba oil
– 10 drops of rosemary essential oil
– 3 to 5 drops of peppermint essential oil


1. In a small saucepan, melt the shea butter and coconut oil over low heat. Stir constantly.

2. When the ingredients are melted, remove them from the heat and place them in a container that resists high temperatures. Add the jojoba or almond oil and essential oils. Stir to integrate them.

3. Place the container in the refrigerator and let it cool until the preparation solidifies. When this happens, mix it with a hand mixer until it has a light and foamy texture.

Store it in a closed jar in a cool, dry place.

6. Shampoo


– Sodium bicarbonate
– Apple vinager
– Essential oils: tea tree to combat dandruff, rosemary to prevent hair loss or lavender to relax the scalp.

7. Insect repellent


– 1 cup of distilled water
– 1 cup of witch hazel or hysopropyl alcohol
– 3 or 4 tablespoons of dried herbs: peppermint, citronella or lavender.


1. Boil a cup of water and add three to four tablespoons of dried herbs. You can choose one of them or combine them.

2. Mix well, cover the preparation and let it cool down.

3. Strain the liquid to remove the herbs and mix it with a cup of witch hazel or rubbing alcohol.

4. Pour the mixture into a spray bottle and store it in a cool place. If you want, you can store it in the refrigerator.

8. Dishwasher tablets


– 3 cups of soda ash (washing soda)
– 1 and a half cup of baking soda
– 1 and a half cups of citric acid (available at some pharmacies)
– 3/4 cup of salt
– 3/4 cup white vinegar
– 30 drops of an essential oil of your choice


1. Mix the soda ash, bicarbonate of soda, and citric acid in a bowl.

2. Slowly add the vinegar and mix well.

3. Add the essential oil you have chosen and stir a little more.

4. Distribute the preparation between the compartments of an ice bucket. Place the tray in a sunny spot and let the mixture dry for 24 hours.

9. Ironing starch


– 1 cup of water
– 2 tablespoons of cornstarch (cornstarch)


Mix the ingredients and place them in a spray bottle.

10. Stain remover


– 1 part hydrogen peroxide (hydrogen peroxide)
– 1 part baking soda
– 2 parts of water.


Mix all ingredients together and place in a jar or spray bottle.

– 1 cup of rubbing alcohol
– 1 cup of water
– 1 tablespoon of white vinegar
